Dear Car Talk:
The 100th anniversary of my mother’s birth is next month, so please come visit us. She lives in New York. I’m in Ohio. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, I still hate flying or staying in hotels.
Assuming I can find a place to park for 4-5 days, do you have any suggestions for a car I might rent for travel or living? My 2010 Prius is good for the former but not for the latter. Thank you. — Tim
Absolutely Tim. You need to rent an RV.
Wait now, I know what you are thinking. You imagine something the size of a Greyhound bath. Ford Expedition is hanging behind for a “short walk”. However, not all RVs are huge. There are van-sized RVs and even minivan-sized RVs. And you can rent it for a week.
Search for RV rentals online to see some options. Winnebago and Cruise America are two of RV’s big rental outfits, but there are others.
Gasoline costs are higher…
