A distracted truck driver from Connecticut lost control of an 18-wheeler on Route 222 in Richmond Township on Monday morning and it ran over the perimeter fence of an RV dealership and crashed into a row of travel trailers and a utility pole.
Traffic was detoured for about a half-hour between Richmaiden and Richmond roads in the village of Kirbyville the rig also snapped a utility pole, bringing down lines onto the road in the 14000 block of Kutztown Road, which is Route 222.
Fleetwood police, who patrol Richmond Township, provided this account:
Paul E. Sipler, 25, of Mansfield was traveling south on Route 222 south of Route 662 shortly before 8:15 a.m. He took his eyes off the road to look down at a GPS map program on an electronic device. The rig traveled on the right shoulder into a snow pile.
