Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley is blocking a move that would have provided speedy confirmation of Joe Biden’s nominee to run the Homeland Security Department – after objecting to counting millions of votes that went to Biden.
Hawley said Tuesday he would object to a move that would let the nomination of Alejandro Mayorkas go straight to the floor, allowing Biden to have a Homeland chief in place as soon as he takes office.
Hawley continues to face political blowback for his decision to join House Republicans in objecting to counting votes from Pennsylvania and Arizona that went to Biden.
